Purpose of this qualification
The purpose of this qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as a Retail Sales Advisor. A Retail Sales Advisor sells goods and services such as Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), clothing, furniture, and speciality merchandise in a retail or wholesale environment.
A qualifying learner will be able to:
- Attend to different types of customers and resolve queries.
- Provide customer service and build customer relationships.
- Sell products in a full-service retail and wholesale sales environment.
The great thing about this qualification is that there is a Part qualification inside of the full qualification.
The part qualification (Sales Assistant) is for a sales person on the shop floor in any kind of operation where selling skills is beneficial.
The full qualification (Retail Sales Advisor) is for the specialised sales person on the shop floor that would deal with a Customer Management System, e.g. the shop assistant at the GolfPro store where mommy can walk in and say: “John’s birthday, and I want something for his golf, that he does not have right now” Because mommy bought all John’s stuff there, they have a record of the goodies sold to John as well as notes, like the fact that John is lefthanded……. The sale is perfect = mommy and John happy with the easy purchase. Even when there is no formal customer management system, this would be the “go-to-guy” at Makro’s stationery department for expert advice on solutions to my paper punching problem, where I need a BIG punch, but don’t want to spend R8k = offering the best solution to my “problem”
The REALLY great thing about this qualification is that for the first time we have something that is teaching SELLING
